Hey!
It's nice to be typing new stuff on the website. Those who subscribe to our newsletter will already have heard plenty of moans about my internet woes, so I'll cut the excuses about the lack of new material and move onto other things.
And boy, do I have a lot to update you about.
First of all: Holy hell! We have a new book coming out. Really soon. Everlasting Lane by Andrew Lovett will be released on 3 October and you can pre-order a signed first edition right now [Updated July 2014 - the book is now in the store!]
We only release two paper books a year. And we love the heck out of them. It's paid off beautifully with Eimear McBride's A Girl is a Half-formed Thing and we're hoping to repeat the trick with Andy. I hope it gets lots of delighted readers soon…
Also! We're going to be appearing at a literary festival! In Wood Green! With Eimear McBride, and with Andrew Lovett and hopefully Simon Gough and Nikesh Shukla too. And our soon to be Singles Club star Jon Fortgang. I'll be posting more about this event soon. But for now, let me just say we'd love to see you. It's in support of a mighty fine bookshop. And you can read more about it.
Elsewhere, we've had two superb releases in our Singles Club… Nikesh Shukla is determined to sell more than 1,000 copies of his novella The Time Machine and so he should, because it's wonderful, and because he's giving all his takings to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. Rowena Macdonald, meanwhile, didn't get a fair crack of the whip from this website while I was suffering from a 1990s speed internet connection, so let me correct that now by telling you that My Beauty is wonderful and by putting up a big picture of her book to encourage you to read it.
What else? It seems like a long time since I've told you how much I love Simon Crump, so here we go. He is wonderful. Few things make me happier than people buying his book. I just know they're going to love it…
And that's probably enough.
