We've just had a tweet about Tony O'Neill's superb A Story Sadder Than All The Bruised Whores In Hollywood from Irvine Welsh. He says:
It's funny, but I think the best writer on the sleazy side of LA is an Englishman.
Of course, we already thought that, but it's great to hear it from someone who really knows - about writing, and quite possibly about sleaze too.
Also! We're delighted to say that Eimear McBride will be appearing in her hometown, Castlebar, on 11 July. We're hoping to organise something in Dublin too and would love to hear from you if you want to talk to Eimear while we're over there.
Oh! one more bit of feedback about Tony. Got this message last night too, from a guy called Pepe:
I got the story. Superb. And all the more special for me since I ran around some of the same places Tony writes about. that donut shop on the corner of 6th and Bonniebrae, USA Donuts, shit. I don't know how many times I sat there sick as a dog waiting for the connection to walk up with a mouthful of balloons.
It's so great when a writer strikes a chord.
