Times Literary Supplement

Simon's just had a rave review in the Times Literary Supplement, from Maureen Freely. A few highlights:

gorgeous, preposterous and captivating

handsome brick of a book

He is Thomas Mann-like in his ability to pull you in by slowing down, so that you do not just imagine yourself there, on the veranda, savouring every moment of conversation as the moon rises over the cliffs and terraces of Deya. There is acute social observation, and with it, social comedy, but never so much as to undo the enchantment.
