Anyway, I apologise. The important thing to know about Holt is that Simon will be giving a reading there, in the lovely Holt bookshop, on 21st September. I (which is to say, Sam) will also be asking him questions about The White Goddess – and most importantly, you can too. So long as you show up.

It starts at 6.30pm and it's a Friday, so it sounds like a very good excuse to have that end of the week glass of wine a little early. Details are on the Holt bookshop website. It's a ticketed event and costs £5 – although tickets are redeemable against purchase of the book. And once you hear Simon, I know you'll want to buy one… So in effect, it's free! Glorious!
