It's here! The Galley Beggar Singles Club!
Galley Beggar Press' new range of handsome, articulate and fun-loving short stories would like to meet like-minded readers for adventure, fun and passion.
We will be releasing a £1 ebook short story every other Friday. We start on 31 May with The Blue & the Dim & the Dark Cloths from award winning novelist Michael Stewart. It's in the store now. It costs £1. It's great.
Next week, we're going to release Best Friend, the first publication from Samuel Wright, the most talented young writer you haven't yet read.
After that we will release a new £1 story every fortnight, starting with A Story Sadder than all the Bruised Whores in Hollywood from the acclaimed author of Digging The Vein, Tony O’Neill… And on we will go, using the power of ebooks, and subscription lists to bring short stories and readers together in a new and exciting way.
The books will be available on all formats in our store, in the Kobo store and, sadly, Amazon.
Why short stories?
Because they matter, they are lovely and people care about them. Because also, they are ideal for ebooks, for giving people something to do as they travel home from work on a Friday. Members of our Singles Club need never feel lonely at the end of the week again…
Why £1?
Because we trust that our readers are intelligent enough to know that .99p is the same thing really. Only more annoying. Also, because we believe that good stories are worth paying for. Fiction is hard to write. Writers deserve to be paid.
How do I subscribe?
Just tick the "I would like to receive the newsletter" box in our store when you make your first purchase. We'll send you a reminder every Friday we have a new story coming out… And that's it. The newsletter will contain a link to the story, and you can buy it or not buy it, depending on whether you like the look of it. Although, of course, you'd be mad not to.
And that's it.
It's here.
We're excited!
