Samuel Wright has won a prestigious Society Of Authors award for his superb story Best Friend. The judges said it was "a brilliant story, interweaving a wry humour in its spot-on depiction of boys".

We're very happy for Samuel - and very proud to be his first publisher.

I hope you'll forgive some collective feather pruning about Samuel, but publishing him was the kind of thing that a small publisher like us can do and the big boys can't. He sent in his stories, we all read them, we all though they were wonderful and it was pretty much as simple as that. There were no marketing men to answer to, there was no bureaucracy to fight through. We just told him we loved him and away we went. I'm happy to say that Samuel has written dozens more equally excellent stories and we're going to be releasing a good quantity of them over the next few months in the Singles Club. He's bloody good.
